Remembrance Day Lecture
Sun 9 Nov
'Who will sing the anthem?  Who will tell the story?'
Michael Morpurgo will give the annual MAW Peace Lecture at the Imperial War Museum in London. Michael, author of the best-selling book War Horse, has voiced concerns over the tone of many of this year's World War One centenary events. He said recently: "During these next four years of commemoration we should read the poems, stories, history and diaries and visit the cemeteries - German cemeteries as well as ours - they were sons and brothers and lovers and husbands and fathers too."

Songs for Choirs for 2014
As the centenary of the start of WW1 approaches, MAW is offering 14 peace songs free to choirs. See the words and music for each one here:
A climate for peace; Go down fighting;

The time; Turn our hands; We are for peace
Christmas in the trenches; Foolish notion;
Moonshine; Mothers, daughters, wives;
Music of healing; Scarecrow; Tyne Cot at night.

We Will We Remember Them: a resource for commemorating the death and suffering brought by war. The new edition has a forward by Michael Morpurgo, with services, reflections, prayers, songs & readings for Remembrance Sunday. As we commemorate the tragedy of the First World War, We Will Remember Them reminds us that to  honour the dead, and care for the living, our most important task is to work for the prevention and elimination of war - what we say in remembrance should reflect this. The booklet is available from the MAW shop
